FAQ

Q: What is the Rock4Hunger Tour?

A: Pop rock alternative band Royal Hoax and Gleaners Food Bank have created a concert tour that has one goal:  Provide meals to hungry neighbors in the metro-Detroit area (and beyond) while giving an enjoyable and educational experience to middle school, high school, and college students… at NO COST TO THE INSTITUTION.  Royal Hoax plays a 30-40 minute musical set while educating students about the serious hunger epidemic that is occurring right in their own backyard.

Q: How does Rock4Hunger raise meals for Gleaners?

A: Because Rock4Hunger doesn’t cost a penny to book, Royal Hoax asks that schools allow them to sell tasteful t-shirts, CD’s, and ‘I Rock4Hunger’ bracelets before and after the concert.  T-shirts and CDs raise 3 direct meals for Gleaner’s, while bracelets raise 1.

Q: How long has the Rock4Hunger Tour been around?

A: 2012 will mark the third year the Rock4Hunger Tour has been in existence.  Since starting in late 2008, the Rock4Hunger Tour has donated over 25,000 meals and has played over 30 middle schools and high schools in the metro-Detroit area (visit our ‘Past Events’ section for more details)!

Q: Can my school host the Rock4Hunger Tour?

A: YES!!  Royal Hoax has a completely self reliant live show.  We have a full PA system along with all other standard live gear.  You just need to provide a power source!

Q: What if my school already hosts a food drive?

A: THAT’S NO PROBLEM! We have worked with plenty of schools that already host food drives. In fact, administration has used the Rock4Hunger Tour to increase participation amongst students by using the concert as a reward/incentive to a winning class/grade; or even giving it to the whole school if it reaches a certain goal!

Q: Will the students actually learn something?

A: YES!!  Royal Hoax not only gives an energetic and entertaining live show, but also educates students in a fun and rewarding way.  We play trivia games where students are asked questions about facts we state throughout the show.  If they get the answers right, they win free merchandise!  Royal Hoax has also helped students host canned food drives, which build many skills that are extremely useful in life!

Q: How do I know that Gleaners Food Bank is receiving their due portion?

A: You can visit our ‘Previous Contributions’, ‘Testimonials’, or ‘Media/Press’ sections to view donation receipts, Gleaners Letter of Recommendation, and newspaper write-ups stating how many meals were directly donated.

Q: Where does the rest of the merchandise money go?

A: Every dollar spent on merchandise goes directly back to the Rock4Hunger Tour.  This includes funding to buy new merchandise, update gear, expand the lighting show, hire a road crew to help set up shows, record future albums, hire assistance for booking, pay travel expenses, and expand the Rock4Hunger Tour for years to come!
